Because seeking God is not a one day affair. And understanding the Bible will take time. It takes some digging. It takes some deep mining. The Word of God is something like the earth. There are very deep parts of it which man has not explored. It took years for man to discover certain geographies. There are some icy regions which some men refuse to go to. There are some popular regions that men love to stay in. There are beautiful parts and romantic parts, like scenic views and natural attractions. God’s word is full of land and water, parts you can stand on so solidly, they will never fail you and parts you can drink, they will wash you and cleanse you and make you a new man. God’s word is full of lights of different kinds. The stories of men who stood for God are told and they shine bright on an extremely dark cloudy sky of heathen. God’s word contains some dark clouds, some thunder and lightning: judgment on the wicked and the heathen, dark prophecies of destruction and war. His word contains a horizon like the sky, a large scale view of what it means to know God and life and history on the whole. God’s word contains life, it can grow on you. It contains fire, that will burn you up like chaff or refine you into gold. God’s word is like the earth and if we went deep enough into it, we’d find riches: gold and minerals. God’s word is a habitat and it’s possible to live in it. It’s possible to travel through it. It has its own laws, just like the earth and nature. And there have been changes. But the earth is still the earth, and God’s word is still His Word.
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
